Cheese is brilliant. Revel in it, feast on it, love it!

Cheese. There are literally thousands of varieties from around the globe. We’ve been making and eating it for the best part of ten thousand years. Like most good things it was discovered by accident that milk could be ‘preserved’ in such a way that it could not only be used at a later date but was also a tasty treat!!

Cheese can be made from the milk of any mammal, the majority being made from cows, goats, buffalo & sheeps milk. Cheese takes on many forms with different textures and tastes depending on, not just the type of milk used, but the terrain the animal has grazed & the production and ageing methods.

We won’t go any further into the details of cheese-making, if you want to know more, I suggest you buy a book!! I did, it’s a very good read.

We stock between 70-80 different types of cheese from home and abroad. We try to ‘rotate’ stock on some of the less common varieties. Please pop into the shop and try something new!
